I first met Paul during an interview for a senior Distribution Leadership position at Henry Schein in the fall of 2007. At that time, I was considering leaving a company I had worked at for 22 years. I had planned to remain and retire from my company, but its culture changed to a point I wanted to explore options. First looking for a company with great performance results and at the same time I sought a very people-oriented culture, and one that did well with Social Responsibilities. The culture piece was most important to me and was an area that I knew required outstanding senior leadership.
During my first meeting with Paul I quickly realized he not only had a solid grasp of Distribution, but it was obvious he was great with people and had success developing others. Paul was one of several senior Leaders that convinced me to leave and join Schein, the best career decision I have ever made.
Over the years I came to realize Paul was the most knowledgeable overall Supply Chain professional I had been around in my 40 plus years in Operations. He personally taught me so much on the Inventory Management side of the business, which was certainly one of his strengths but what also stood out about Paul was his ability to so easily connect the dots on almost any complex situation even engineering related. Besides his overall knowledge and skills, Paul was the upmost professional, taking care of people and driving team collaboration, a great Leader.
I have been fortunate to have been around several outstanding mentors in my professional and personal life and I can confidently say Paul is one of the smartest people I have been associated with.
